 Grand Ardeche Chardonnay

Grand Ardeche Chardonnay
This is an incontestable good choice. Made by a premier cru classe producer, whose vineyards boasts vine patches that reach back into the Middle Ages, this Grand Arceche Chardonnay offers a nose with perfectly discernable lemon curd, vanilla and ripe pear. The wine delivers the mouth-filling mild acidity of lemon and green apple with a silky, satisfying finish of oak and vanilla. These last two overtones, are of course, a result of lightly pressing only hand-selected grapes at the Beaune cooperage, where they are aged in oak barrels that Latour handcrafts itself. This very dark ruby wine shows a reddish-purple hue. Youthful Grenache aromas focus on rasberry cordial, ripe and bright, with just a hint of a "leafy" undertone. Fresh and juicy fruit flavors carry over on the palate, nicely structured by snappy acidity and soft but perceptible tannins. On the simple side, but very fresh. Fine with food such a red cheddar. |
